Lyrarapax was a Precambrian Dinocarid (terrible shrimp) whose relationship to other animal life is still murky. Recent studies link it to Velvet Worms, a bizarre group of animals that live in South America.
I do always mix up Precambrian and Cambrian. Not sure If i'm depicting hard shell, or a sort of rubbery segmentation. The fringes were my speculation of gills.
Actually, Lyrarapax is from the Cambrian era, not Precambrian. Many bloggers get those mixed up.
ReplyDeleteThe real animal was probably more streamlined, and soft-bodied rather than fully armored, but your reconstruction looks very interesting nontheless.
